I think that TV ratings are way too restrictive. Seriously, wouldn't you say that your life includes more explicit conversation than your average late-night talk show? And really, which parents let their 6-year-olds stay up past 8:00? Why can't we get some "controversial"programming on? It's not that hard. Okay, at about 11:00, there are practically no limits, but why can't Canada allow VH1, MTV, Fox News, UPN, the WB, or Howard Stern? It may be inappropriate at times but how do you define appropriateness? In the 50s, none of this was acceptable. Just let the monster loose and I think everyone'll be much happier.
Late July 2004
In a world of so many personalities, people, colours, ages, and backgrounds, we all strive for individuality; a way to make ourself special and different. We don't want to be like anyone else, we want to be our own self.
-----That's what everyone says-----
But seriously, I've found that we all want to be exactly the same. We want to speak the same language to we can understand each other. We want to get rid of racial differences and cultures. We want to like the same things, do the same things, and dislike the same things. We group together to assimilate and be the same. If you look at any MSN profile, you're bound to find a friends list, maybe a favourite sports team, and some interests (friends, movies). It seems as though even though we strive so much to be so different from each other, we are all the same.
Maybe we should try being different for a change.
