Some of the Best Songs EVER

Mass Destruction – Faithless

This song is a powerful political song. I would not be surprised if it becomes the politically defining song of this post-September 11th era. Its music video is artistically spectacular and reinforces the song extremely well.

Au Pays du Gandhi - MC Solaar

This is a typical rap song. Oh so very typical. The beat is great featuring a strong Indian influence. It is one of the best rap songs I’ve heard in a long time.

Face a la Mer - Calogero et Passi

The best rap song ever. Despite the fact that it’s got a strong pop influence, its lyrics are powerful and convey a very good message. The beat and music are also excellent.

African Connection - Ami Oh

This is a great dance song. Addictive and wonderful. Definitely an African/and Caribbean vibe.

Mourir Demain - Natasha St Pier & Pascal Obispo

A soppy love song. However, if you listen to the lyrics (which are translated on the What’s New Page), you’ll discover that the song is in fact a song that asks the question: If the world ended tomorrow, what be the last thing you would do? It asks us to think of what matters the most. Great Message. Also great beat.

California Dreamin' 2004 - Royal Gigolos

It’s an excellent remake of the song Californai Deaming by the Mamas and the Papas. It is a club dance hit, though it is also great to listen to while doing other things. There is a strong electronic presence and little of the old song, but it is still an excellent song.

Stuck in the Middle With You - Gerry Rafferty

This is the song featured in the movie “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) when Mr. Pink tortures a police officer and cuts off his ear. The song fits beautifully (or grossly) into the scene and is also great as a standalone hit.

Blue - Eiffer 65

Ah, the one hit wonder of Eiffel 65. A bend created in the late 1990s that had a huge hit with Blue, a song that makes almost no sense other than the fact that it states that the man singing is Blue. It was a great song with an addictive beat and great music.

Do Your Thing - Basement Jaxx

Do Your Thing is a great party song. It’s got a great beat which is not overly electronic and a great voice. It was featured in the movie “Bend it Like Beckham”.

Beer - Reel Big Fish

Ah, Ska. This song mixes rock with the jazzy beats of Ska. It is a great song with a catchy beat that will make your toes tap.

Drain the Blood - The Distillers

A great hard rock song. It is overwhelmed by loud guitars, loud lyrics, and lound drums. This is rock at its best.

I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness

I Believe in a Thing Called Love is definitely a throw back to the rock of the late 1970s. This song is a hit in England and has enjoyed a small measure of success in North America. It is a great song with one weird singer.

Rock the Casbah - The Clash

Actually a protest song on the ban of rock music in Iran, this song became a huge dance hit in clubs around the world in the 80s. It’s infectious chorus is backed up by a great piano tune and drums.

Train in Vain - The Clash

This song, originally tacked onto an album as an extra track, is probably one of the Clash’s great lighter rock n’ roll hits.

We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister

The KISSesque act of Twisted Sister produced their one an only hit with We’re Not Gonan Take It. However, the song has been popular ever since. Anyone over the age of 10 knows this song (hopefully)

This Love - Maroon 5

Maroon 5’s hit is oozing with sexual energy. However, it is one of the best pop songs of 2004. It has a great chorus which blends beautifully into the verses.

You Can Dance if You Want To - Men At Work

A great dance hit from Men At Work. The band also had hits with “Land Down Under” and “Who Can it Be Now”. This song also has a Robocop remix, though it is hard to find.

Walkie Talkie Man – Steriogram

Walkit Talkie Man features a zany video and an infectious beat. Though the lyrics are quite idiotic, the Kiwi band seems to have got a hit with this one.

Electric Avenue is one of the great dance hits of the 80s. It is well known by many people ad the chorus is unforgettable.

Autobahn - Kraftwerk

Autobahn is one of the first techno hits ever. Created in the 1960s, it features some of the first use of synthesizers which are all to common now in music. It features some interesting voice manipulation as well such as in the last minute of the song.

Smells Like Teeen Spirit - Nirvana

The late great Kurt Cobain is probably most well known for his dark grunge hit, Smells Like Teen Spirit. This song has been called the anthem of the 90s and the anthem of Generation X.

Yellow Submarine - The Bealtes

The fun loving song of the Beatles. An excellent song to lighten your mood.

Power Shortage - The Pylons

A great ska band from Toronto has created an excellent song in Power Shortage. It features a great chorus and a strong saxophone beat. As with all ska songs, it conveys its message (which in this case is one of anger) in a happy and cheerful manner.

Phenomenon - Thousand Foot Krutch

Phenomenon is a Christian rock hit with music similar to Linkin Park. It is an excellent hard rock song from an excellent band.

Money - The Flying Lizards

Money is a great song. Created for under $30 in a basement, it is one of the best known songs of the 80s featuring a woman with a weird voice.

Whip It – Devo

A song that makes no sense, but has a great beat. It gives us the influential message that, when faced with a problem, “you must whip it”.

I Wanna be Sedated - The Ramones

A great song by the Ramones.

Senses Working Overtime – XTC

Sense Working Overtime has one of the most addictive choruses ever. The song in between is also fairly good.

Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles

            A great slow song.

Mrs. Bean - The Essex Green

This song, though made recently, sounds very much like an song from the early 1960s. It is a very nice song that I would recommend to anyone who likes the Beatles.

In the End - Linkin Park

This song is probably Linkin Park’s breakthrough song. It is a powerful song and well liked by many people.

Figurine Humaine - Emma Daumas

This song is a mix of rock and pop music. It is in French and has a good rhyme/beat and chorus.

Butterfly – Crazytown

This psychedelic hip hop/rap hit from the one hit wonder Crazytown is a sex inspired song with great background music.

Hey YaOutKast

The weird and wacky band OutKast has created a smash hit with their song Hey Ya.

Mundian to Bach Ke - MC Punjabi

This Indian Bhangra (sp?) song was popular about a year ago. It has a great beat and features a fusion of western and eastern beats.

Secret Love Song - The Pylons

One of the Pylons’ more laid back songs, this song is great as music to soothe you.

A great sports song. We are the Champions is a well known and well loved song.

Walk Idiot Walk is an excellent rock song.

Rock me Amadeus - Falco

Rock me Amadeus is some sort of freak song with a great beat.

Julia - Cheap Suits

Julia, another ska song, sound a lot like 50s rock and roll with influences from reggae.

PINT - 50 Pence

            A parody on 50 cent’s PIMP.

Le Zizi - Pierre Perret

An ode to the male anatomy, this song sold over 8 million copied in France when it was released in 1975. It is a French classic and the singer is even loved by children despite the graphicness of this cheery song. It’s extremely funny by the way.
