MY FRICKIN OPINION

Here's a bit of the website where I talk about whatever's on my mind. Okay I had to fill up some space but still, you might find it interesting.

Anyway, here's my thought:

Okay, firstly to tack something onto William's What's on My Mind Section where he continued my rant (below) about band blandness (specifically Blink 182), I've found a great example of this. It has to do with Three bands. Firstly, it starts with a guitar intro on Bob Dylan's Knocking On Heaven's Door. This song was covered by Avril Lavigne for the Spirit Olympics Album. However, Avril's cover sounds way too much like a song by The Stairs, a popish band from Boston. Their song, entitled Carpenter's Ghost, has the identical guitar intro, just their is actually more complicated. Maybe it's subliminal, but really, if you listen to both, it's hard to hear the difference.

Also, has anyone noticed how hard it is to be an artist these days?? You have to have the looks, the voice, the instruments, the groupies, the clothes, the evertything. Look at the Beatles, they aren't exactly your super-glammed stars of today. Or George Thorogood. Or The Rolling Stones. Face It. you buy music because you heard about it from a media source. You didn't make up your mind. Media made it up for you. If Much Music tells you that something's good, of course it is. Why wouldn't it be? I mean, doesn't Much choose the best indie rock to display to us as the top of the tops? NO, my confused friend, they don't. Where's Hillary Duff's little garage band? Nonexistent. Justin Timberlake's pre-stardom performances in little clubs? Nonexistent (he went from the Mickey Mouse club to singing). Britney Spears' hometwon performances. Nope, none. See? It's only good if they tell you it is. Take Walkie Talkie Man by Steriogram. That song's been around for ages. I mean ages. I saw it on Much Music late at night (2am or something) about 6 months ago. That was when they had already signed with a major label. Wow. Thatmuse mean that the song's been around for at least a year. Guess what? It definitely has. Now that it's in an iPod commerical. You, the consumer like it. Why? Because they told you you do.

I'll bet you that Mass Destruction by Faithless will become a smash hit in about January. Why? because it's already appeared in Rolling Stone and has been played twice on the Edge (once though late at night).

Anyway, my point is think outside the MTV/Much music box. There's a big world out there filled with millions of songs. Personally, I suggest tuning into 89.5 FM or 101.5 FM. This is usually where people who actually care about music are. They don't get paid, they just do it because they love it. Hopefully, someday we might see music become universal and not just 2 or 3 bands at a time. Maybe everyone will like music because they like it, and not because everyone else says they should.

OLD RANT WHICH I HAVENT PUT INTO THE DOC YET

Has anyone noticed thta Blink-182 has become a really whiney band. Every single one of their songs has the same beat, rhythm, and melody with the same whiney vocals. CREATIVITY!!!! GOD! You make millions and this is all you can come up with? The last 3 of their songs that have played on the radio seem like a big blur to me. Just the same kind of droning voice whining about whatever they talk about in those songs. I'm sorry, I don't like Blink. They're old, wrinkley and unoriginal. They are passe without the radiating glory of RHCP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, rolling Stones, Beatles, or any of those really innovative bands. they will probably rank in with Donna Summers (who? yes, that's right...who?), or Frankie Goes to Hollywood, or the Buggles. Big on day, an unknown band with a small following the next. Al least lets hope so, I'm tired of the whining (by them).

MY LAST RANT

Okay, here's a bit to add onto William's "What's on my Mind" section which talked about reality and our perception of it. I think that we only recognize reality due to our 5 (or 6) senses. Without those senses, we are disconnected from the world and cannot interact with it. I found this to be really true when I went into the catacombs of Paris. Because I didn't feel like touching any of the skulls etc., I didn't us my sense of touch. Therefore, I felt as if I was looking through someone else's eyes at what I was seeing. It was as if I was disconnected from where I was.

So what I'm saying here is that we really are only connected to the world through our senses and without them, we really would not be able to exist.

Friend of the Month

Well, I've been thinking, and I think that a friend of the month to me is kind of like a "Soup of the Day" or a grocery store's specials for the week. It just seems like a rotating highlight. So, I've gotten rid of it despite the fact that I'd like to point out all my friends' wonderful qualities. Please check the friends page for paragraphs on each.

Previous Friends of the Month: Ali Malik Noor (June), Connie Gowland (July), William Fujarczuk (August)

Info About "Shock-Jock" Howard Stern

Okay, firstly Howard Stern isn't that shocking. If you tune into his radio show, he can be very boring at times. Actually he's never said Fuck, so I dont know what the big deal is. Sometimes he does go off into innappropriate tangents, but it doesn't happen much (like once a year). However, his company is being sued by many organizations for what they call "indecent content".

EXCUSE ME, wouldn't you agree that Maury, Jerry Springer, Ricky Lake, and shows like that are a bit more innappropriate. In the middle of the afternoon, while cartoon networks are playting P
